Riza Patria Encourages People to Donate Blood Regularly

Jakarta Vice Governor, Riza Patria attended blood donation and staple food packages distribution activities held by Jakarta Council (DPRD) Commission A Deputy Chairman, Inggard Joshua on Jalan H. Kelik, Kelapa Dua, Kebon Jeruk, West Jakarta.

He appreciated the blood donation activity that had been carried out more than once and hoped it would continue, especially during COVID-19 pandemic.

"Blood donation is an extraordinary humanitarian and social activity. I thank Mr, Inggard for holding it," he said, Saturday (1/22).

He explained that Jakarta Government and DPRD have the same commitment to help the community through social and humanitarian activities that are routinely held.

Therefore, he encouraged people to be actively involved by donating blood regularly every three months, due to decreasing blood bags supply to the Indonesian Red Cross (PMI) since the pandemic. Previously, Jakarta PMI could receive 1,000-3,000 bags of blood per day. However, since the pandemic hit, blood bags supply have dropped drastically to 300 per day.

"Blood donation is a very important, noble, and strategic activity to lighten the burden of our fellow human beings," he mentioned.

At the same location, Jakarta Council Commission A Deputy Chairman, Inggard Joshua conveyed, the enthusiasm of blood donors was very high for this activity. He informed, there were 170 people participated in this activity out of total target of 100 blood bags.

Furthermore, he also prepared 1,000 staple food packages that would be distributed to residents affected by floods and tidal floods, especially in West Jakarta.

"As citizens of Jakarta, we also have a responsibility to help others in need," he asserted.
